If you live in a home with hard water you probably know the hassles of showering with regular soaps, gels, and bath products on the market. One of the main problems with hard water is that the soap doesn’t create that nice lather that you get when you have soft water.
Another kind of nasty side effect of hard water is that the minerals in the water react with the soap and create “soap scum”, which is why people in hard water areas have a harder time keeping their showers and tubs clean.
The bad news is that scummy residue leaves that feeling on your skin and in your hair giving the impression that you didn’t get totally clean.
The good news is that there are products on the market there are bath products designed to work well in hard water.
We set out to find the best bath wash for hard water and decided on this one by Puracy as it seems to stand out from the rest with its all-natural ingredients and fresh scent.

Best Body Wash for Hard Water – Our Top Picks
OGX Radiant Glow + Argan Oil of Morocco Body Wash
This body wash by OGX Radiant Glow works well, especially for dry skin as the Argan oil helps hydrate your skin.
It properly cleanses the body’s outer layer while also managing to leave the skin feeling soft and smelling great. The main ingredients in this body wash are Argan Oil and Coconut oil. If you have not tried Argan oil bath products, you are in for a treat.
I first saw Argan oil products 20 years ago in Morocco on a short trip from a tour we were doing in Spain and went down to Tangiers for a day tour.
I noticed the local Moroccan women in the market were all buying these small bottles of oil, the basic label just showed a woman with dark flowing hair. The local women all appeared to have very healthy-looking hair and skin!
I asked around and one of the vendors in the market stalls knew the word in English- “Argan Oil”. I actually had to look it up when I got home…but now it’s become pretty common in bath products in the US and well known around the world for its beneficial properties as well as the eco-friendly fact that argan trees are slow-growing, the Argan forest in Morocco was declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 1998.
It also has a Sandalwood scent that isn’t too strong, but the fragrance lasts for quite a while and its softness should feel pleasing for anyone around you. Any fragrance is a personal preference of course, but I love the smell of sandalwood.
The only downside you may find could be the size of the bottle considering the price you’re paying for it. Granted, you’ll almost assuredly be purchasing a quality product, but it might feel a bit too expensive given the relatively low amount of liquid you’ll get.
If your skin tends to get greasy after showering or if you need to constantly apply lotion on it, this product could be ideal for you. You might find that your skin will have a softer feel when touching it after applying this product. Its components should also work well with hard water, which is a great plus!
- Great product to remove oil from your skin.
- Contains Argan Oil, Coconut Oil, and Sandalwood
- It should be very effective when exposed to hard water considering its powerful cleansing ability.
- Has a very pleasant smell.
- It’s not as ‘bubbly’ as other brands.
- The packaging is pretty small
Body Wash by Deep Steep:
This alcohol-free body wash by Deep Steep has a strong lilac scent that doesn’t feel artificial at all. It has a silky feeling to it and it’s also very soft for the skin – you should barely notice it when you apply it. That doesn’t take away from its cleaning quality, though.
The scent’s strength isn’t overwhelming and it’s actually one of the main reasons people buy this product, along with the moisturizing effect it has on the skin without turning it too greasy or heavy.
Keep in mind that this product doesn’t create too many bubbles when bathing – if you’re into really bubbly baths, you might want to look somewhere else.
- A strong yet not overwhelming scent leaves the body smelling very nice after showering.
- Oil-removing, moisturizing effect makes it an ideal shower companion.
- Thoroughly cleans the skin and leaves you feeling fresh after bathing or showering.
- Doesn’t create as many bubbles as some owners would like.
- The Vanilla Sugar scent doesn’t appear to smell as its name would suggest.
- It’s a bit too ‘watery’.
This body wash by Puracy is an ideal option for sensitive people who have a tendency of being affected by rashes and red-skin conditions – particularly in hard water environments. The main thing about this body wash is that it can easily make your skin feel very soft.

The smell is actually incredible as well. Some of the most effective soaps on the market tend to suffer from poor smells, considering the makers often focus their resources entirely on their natural features.
This body wash offers owners the possibility to clean the skin to the fullest while also giving it an amazing smell.
If you suffer from dry skin and constantly need lotion to fix it, then this body wash is ideal for you. It moisturizes and softens the skin, without even needing to apply it for a long time. Just bathe or shower naturally and this body wash will work for you.

Hard Water Body Wash: What To Consider:
Cost: What many people don’t realize is that hard water can lead to using 50% to 75% more soap, body wash and shampoo.
Because normal soaps don’t create as many bubbles and lather in hard water, most people end up using more and more to get the desired amount of foam. Because of that, using a body wash that is specially designed for hard water can save you money over the long run. Although the options reviewed here may be a little more expensive, if you are using twice the amount of normal body wash to get clean it could end up being more affordable to buy a good body wash designed for hard water.
Cleansing effectiveness: The composition of each body wash will not only determine how effective it is when exposed to hard water but also how much of a ‘clean feeling’ it will give to its buyers. A good product should thoroughly clean the skin and remove any traces of oiliness when applied correctly.
Scent: There are two aspects to consider when referring to a product’s scent. The first one is how good the smell is, and the second one is for how long the smell will last. Some of these products tend to keep a strong scent, even hours after being applied. It is important that the scent is gentle and that it doesn’t feel too artificial.
The Natural Body Wash for Women & Men by Maple Holistics has a great balance of attributes that make it an ideal accessory to use when showering with hard water. It’s a good product to consider if you want to thoroughly cleanse your skin and remove any residue of oiliness from it, as it also offers a nice and soft scent for your skin. check out these online forum recommendations from people with hard water.
